Rev. Dr. Brian C. Oglesbee
Pastor, Norwalk First United Methodist Church
Pastor Brian and his late wife, Patricia, have two wonderful daughters. The older daugher, Elizabeth, along with her husband Daniel, have two sons, Cohen and Kaiden. The younger daughter, Mary, has one daughter, Lily. Patricia was a teacher of students with cognitive and multiple disabilities for 27 years. She last taught with the Crestwood Local Schools in Matua, Ohio. Brian and Patricia were married for 22 years.
Pastor Brian retired from public school education in June 2007 as an elementary principal with the Louisville City Schools in Louisville, Ohio. Throughout his career, he taught instrumental music in the Gallipolis City Schools and was an administrator in the Southeast Local Schools, the Streetsboro City Schools, and the Louisville City Schools.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Ohio University, and a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministries from Malone University. In January 2015, he completed his Doctor of Ministry Degree in Transformational Leadership from Ashland Theological Seminary. His dissertation is “Licensed Local Pastors – Values, Attitudes, and Attributes of Effective Leadership.”
Pastor Brian is an Ordained Elder in Full Connection in the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church. He serves on the East Ohio Conference Board of Ministry as the Chair of the Order of Elders and is a member of the Firelands District Committee on Lay Servant Ministries and the District Committee on Ministry. He previously served for seven years as pastor of the Charlestown United Methodist Church in the Canal District. Appointed in July 2013 to the Norwalk First U.M.C. by Bishop John Hopkins, Pastor Brian enjoys being the spiritual leader and shepherd to a very active and Holy Spirit filled congregation.
