I thank God everyday that he has given me the opportunity to shepherd this amazing group of Christ-followers here at Norwalk First U.M.C. It is a privilege and honor to serve this church and this community. The Bible passage that became a turning point in my transition from a career in public education into that of ministry is Philippians 2:5-11, especially verse 5 – “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”

In my spare time, I enjoy sitting down with a good non-fiction book, working out three times a week at Anytime Fitness with my fitness trainer, learning to operate all the new electronic gadgets, and spending time with my parents, my sister, my daughters Elizabeth and Mary, and my grandchildren, Cohen, Kaiden, and Lily. And by the way, the congregation knows that I detest lima beans!

I am grateful to be a part of the Norwalk First UMC staff for the past 17 years, learning and growing with many pastors and a wonderful church family.

Joe and I were married at Kelley’s Island Zion UMC and we have three children: our son, Josh, his wife Nathania, and their children Nick and Kayla; our son, Eric, his wife Autumn, and their daughter Lyza; and our daughter, Emily, and her daughter Ella.

It is a privilege to participate with children and youth in their walk with Christ. Go and make disciples!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Administrative Assistant

I am a graduate of Lorain County Community College where I received an Associate of Applied Business in Secretarial Science. I have been employed by the Department of Justice, the Keystone School District, and LaGrange United Methodist Church as an Administrative Assistant.

I am blessed to have learned God’s plan for me is to further His work using my gifts of administration. In 2013, I accepted the full-time position at Norwalk First UMC. I love working here! I am fulfilled each and every day that I come to work and treasure the friends I have made.

I have been happily married to my husband, Glen, since 1992. We have a son, Tommy, and a Bichon Frise, Benny. I enjoy daily walks, yard work, singing, and boating with family and friends on beautiful Norris Lake in Tennessee.

I am a graduate of Edison High School/EHOVE Career Center and have lived in Milan all my life.  I have an Associate Degree in Microcomputer Applications from the Ohio Business College.

I’ve been working for the church since 2006, and I enjoy the job because of the people I meet and the challenges I help solve.

My hobbies include bicycling, movies, and working on computers.

Director of Music

Growing up, my family helped me understand the value of following Christ and serving Him in a faith community because so many of them did just that in the Methodist church.

I am recently retired from a long and rewarding career in elementary education and music.  I have been directing handbells at Norwalk First since 1982 and the choir since 1987.

My three wonderful sons are Aaron; Nathan and his wife Liz; and Jesse.  My inspiring husband, Tom, passed away in 2011 from cancer.

Throughout my journey of joy and challenge, God’s presence has always been apparent. I have learned to look for Him in the music we sing–the melodies that comfort, the harmonies that inspire, and the voices that encourage.

Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?

I have been making music at the piano since the age of six and greatly enjoy participating in worship at Norwalk First UMC.

My husband Christopher and I have two adult sons, Orion and Ciaran.  I have a virtual bookkeeping business for personal and small business finance.  We live on a mini farm and spend lots of hours mentoring a high school robotics team.

Jeremiah 29:11,13  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

I graduated from Heidelberg University with a degree in music.  I taught music education grades K-12 and special education before retiring in 1998.  I am also a retired organist, but am currently accompanying our service hymns along with our pianist.

I was happily married to my high school sweetheart Sam for 38 years before he passed away with a terminal illness in 2001.  We moved to Bellevue in 1964 and raised two sons:  Brian (wife Kim), and Brad (wife Traci), and their daughter Ella.

It is a joy to be a small part of the talented music staff at First Church.  Our services are greatly enhanced with the chancel and bell choirs under Carol’s direction, Chantal’s beautiful piano selections, and the praise band.

When in our music God is glorified, Alleluia!

Nursery Attendant

I love working with kids!  I’ve taught preschool for the past ten years and have been in the nursery here at Norwalk First for one.  My husband, Brandon, and I have been married for eight years and have three children.

Noah’s Ark has always been my favorite Bible story.  It teaches you so many life lessons!  Always remember that no matter what the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow awaiting.

Genesis 9:13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
