A Prayer by Mary Tester

Father God, we are grateful that we can come boldly to your throne, because you are a good and gracious God, where we receive your mercy and find grace to help us when we need it. (Hebrews 4:16)

We thank you, that we are able to address you as Father by the work of your son Jesus and, because of our relationship with him, we are your children. As your children, we acknowledge that we belong to you, not ourselves. As our Father, we look to you for the provision for the needs of your children in this church.

Forgive us for the times that we have allowed thoughts of worry, doubts and negativity to interfere with looking to you as our provider, instead relying on ourselves. We confess our lack of trust in you that you would not meet our needs. We acknowledge that you are more than able to provide what is needed for the success of this capital campaign. We cling tightly to your promise, “For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’(Isaiah 41:13)

We remember that you are the source of everything we have.  That there is nothing we have that you have not given us. (1 Corinthians 4:7)  We ask for your help in relinquishing any attitude of ownership of the means and resources you have placed in our hands, and we willingly accept the role of “steward” of what you have entrusted to us.

We ask for your protection because we trust in you. We are your people and you are our LORD, and apart from you, we have no good thing. (Psalm 16:1-2)

Guide us in our diligence to seek your will throughout this time that you, in your graciousness, would grant us success. (Nehemiah 2:20)

While we wait on you, LORD, we will be strong and take heart, knowing that we will see your goodness.(Psalm 27: 13-14)

We thank you in advance for your favor and provision.
