Donny's Closet

Donny's Closet is a ministry of compassion and love that provides personal care and hygiene items to individuals and families in need throughout our community. From soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, diapers, and other everyday essentials, this ministry helps to meet the needs that are often overlooked but are vital to a person's health, dignity, and well being. Donny's Closet was inspired by a former member of Norwalk First who, despite living on a limited budget and moving out of state, felt called to make a difference. He lovingly sent the very first box of hygiene items, planting the seed for what has become Donny's Closet. His generosity and servant's heart continue to inspire this ministry and remind us that even simple acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. Through the generosity of our congregation and community , Donny's Closet offers these items free of charge, extending Christ's love in practical ways. We believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion, and we are honored to serve our neighbors with grace, kindness, and hope. Community Dinner

In 2013, Huron County was facing difficult economic times. Seeing the growing needs of our neighbors, a small group of members at Norwalk First United Methodist Church felt called to respond in a simple but meaningful way. With our church located in the heart of downtown Norwalk on Historic Main Street and blessed with a welcoming building and spacious parking lot, it was the perfect place to open our doors and invite the community to share a free meal. What began with a handful of dedicated volunteers serving approximately 50 meals on the third Monday of each month has grown into one of our church's most meaningful outreach ministries. Through seasons of change, difficult challenges, and even the loss of many cherished members, our commitment has never wavered. We have never missed a monthly Community Dinner. Today, between 100 and 250 guests gather each month to enjoy a warm meal, caring fellowship, and the opportunity to experience the love of Christ in a welcoming community. This ministry is made possible by the faithful hearts of more than 25 volunteers who generously give their time each month to prepare, cook, serve, greet our guests, and clean up afterward. Many also lovingly provide homemade desserts, adding a special touch that reminds our guests they are cared for and valued. Their dedication is a beautiful expression of Christ's love in action. Our Community Dinner is about much more than food. It is a place where friendships are formed, burdens are shared, and everyone is welcomed with dignity and compassion. Whether someone comes because they need a meal, are looking for companionship, or simply want a place where they belong, there is always a seat waiting for them. Our Jr. and Sr. MYF youth are also an important part of this ministry, helping to prepare, serve and welcome guests while learning what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Their servant hearts remind us that sharing God's love often begins with the simple act of serving one another. Join us on the third Monday of every month and experience the warmth of a shared meal, genuine fellowship and a community where all are welcome. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. Grief Share

GriefShare is a 13 week program, designed to help you navigate the journey through grief in a caring, supportive, safe environment. Whether your loss is recent or happened some time ago, you don't have to walk through grief alone. Each week, we explore different aspects of the grieving process and offer encouragement, understanding, and practical help as you begin to heal. GriefShare is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one and is looking for support along the way. Reservations are encouraged, but not necessary. THURSDAYS-6:30-8:00 P.M.-beginning Sept. 10th 2026 Norwalk First United Methodist Church 60 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio ALL are welcome here, and we're here to help you through the journey. Tea Talk and Art-Oct. 20, 2026. Featuring Dr. Brian Murphy, Cleveland Clinic Oncologist

Tea Talk & Art is a unique community outreach ministry that brings people together for conversation, creativity, education and encouragement. Offered free of charge, this bi-monthly program is sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic in collaboration with the Missions Team at Norwalk First United Methodist Church. Each gathering features an informative health presentation focused on topics such as cancer prevention, early detection, wellness, and self-care, followed by a hands-on art experience led by a licensed art therapist. Participants enjoy a complimentary light meal and leave with a beautiful art creation to take home. Whether you come to learn, create, connect with others, or simply enjoy an uplifting evening, Tea Talk & Art offers a welcoming environment where friendships are formed, hope is shared, and every person is valued. This ministry reflects our commitment to caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—by sharing God’s love through education, creativity, compassion, and community. As one of our church’s most distinctive outreach programs, it supports spiritual growth while also encouraging physical health, emotional well-being, and meaningful connection. Tim Tebow's Night To Shine

Night to Shine – Coming February 12, 2027! We are excited to announce that Night to Shine is coming on February 12, 2027! Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom experience celebrating people with special needs, ages 14 and older. Sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, this special evening honors every guest as a valued and loved child of God. Guests enjoy a memorable night filled with music, dancing, fellowship, and plenty of opportunities to feel celebrated! Who is welcome? Night to Shine is for individuals with special needs, ages 14 and older. We also welcome volunteers and community members who would like to be part of this wonderful celebration of love, acceptance, and inclusion. Pies and other baked goods will also be available. Norwalk First United Methodist Church is pleased to provide a welcoming space for community support groups that offer encouragement, fellowship, and support to individuals and families facing difficult circumstances. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Mondays-8:00-9:00 p.m. AA offers a confidential and supportive environment for individuals seeking help with alcohol-related challenges. Al-Anon Tuesdays-7:00-8:00 p.m. Al-Anon provides support and encouragement for family members and friends whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking. ALL are welcome here.
